Yes. This is why a consultation is so important. There is a huge amount of information available right now through podcasts, social media, and online forums, and much of it is hard to navigate without clinical context or understanding. Many people arrive at their first appointment having done the research but are still unsure about which direction to take. We’ll listen to your symptoms, assess your skin appropriately and make an honest recommendation that’s based on your needs, not sales and promotions.
It’s a good question and one we welcome people asking. YOR isn’t a dental clinic that diversified into skin and wellness treatments, it was built around the understanding that oral, gut and skin health are interconnected. Deepa Vakil is a clinician who has spent years exploring the relationship between oral health and wider health outcomes. The mouth is one of the most diagnostically rich areas of the body, and skin is one of the first places where systemic changes show up, so bringing these services together is a natural consequence of how we should think about (and treat) our health.
Results vary depending on the treatment. Anti-wrinkle treatments typically last 3-4 months, while dermal fillers can last 6-18 months. We’ll discuss expected duration during your consultation and recommend a maintenance plan tailored to you.
It’s minimal for most of our treatments. SkinPen typically involves 24-48 hours of mild redness. Obagi can have an adjustment phase in the early weeks as your skin responds to the active ingredients. As always, we’ll prepare you fully for what to expect and we’ll be available if you have any questions afterwards.
Most patients find SkinPen microneedling comfortable. We apply a topical numbing cream before treatment to minimize any discomfort. During the procedure, you may feel a light vibrating or prickling sensation, but it’s generally well-tolerated. The level of sensation varies depending on the treatment area and your individual sensitivity.
