What are All-on-4® dental implants?

All-on-4® is an innovative implant treatment designed for people who have lost most or all of their teeth, or whose remaining teeth can no longer be restored with crowns and bridges. Also known as ‘Teeth in a day’ as a results can often be achieved in a single day, All-on-4  are carefully positioned dental implants used to support a complete set of replacement teeth.

Rather than replacing every tooth individually, four carefully positioned titanium implants are placed into the jawbone to support a complete arch of natural-looking replacement teeth. This provides a secure, long-lasting alternative to traditional dentures without the need for an implant for every missing tooth.

Because the implants are angled to make the best use of your existing bone, many patients who have been told they don’t have enough bone density for implants may still be suitable for All-on-4 treatment, often avoiding the need for complex bone grafting procedures.

Could All-on-4 be right for you?

You may be a suitable candidate if you:

  • Are missing most or all of your upper or lower teeth.
  • Wear dentures that move or become uncomfortable.
  • Have several loose, damaged or heavily restored teeth.
  • Want a permanent alternative to removable dentures.
  • Want to restore your smile with as few implants as possible.

The only way to know for certain is through consultation with one of our specialists. We’ll carry out a comprehensive assessment, including digital scans and 3D imaging where required, to determine whether All-on-4 is the right solution for you.

The benefits of All-on-4 Teeth in a Day

One of the biggest benefits is the difference it can make to everyday life. Because your new teeth are fixed in place, there is no slipping or movement and no need for denture adhesives. Patients can enjoy improved confidence when smiling, speaking and eating, along with better chewing ability than they may have experienced with removable dentures. The treatment can also help support the jawbone and facial profile, while your new smile is carefully designed to look natural and feel like you.

For many patients, Teeth in a Day is about far more than replacing missing teeth. It can restore confidence, make eating more enjoyable and provide the reassurance of a secure, long-lasting smile with the right ongoing care.

What happens during treatment?

Every smile is unique, which is why every All-on-4 treatment plan is individually designed.

1
Consultation and digital planning

We’ll begin with a comprehensive consultation, discussing your concerns, lifestyle and smile goals. We’ll carry out a detailed examination, take digital scans, photographs and 3D CBCT imaging to carefully assess your bone, bite and oral health.

Using advanced digital planning software, we map the ideal position of every implant before treatment even begins, helping us achieve exceptional precision and predictable results.

2
Implant placement

Your treatment is carried out under local anesthetic, and sedation is available if you feel anxious or would simply prefer a more relaxed experience.

Four titanium implants are precisely placed into your jawbone using guided surgical techniques designed to minimise discomfort and support a smooth recovery.

3
Your new smile

Where clinically appropriate, we’ll attach a carefully crafted temporary bridge on the same day, allowing you to leave with a complete, fixed smile while your implants heal and integrate with the jawbone over the following months.

Once healing is complete, your final bespoke bridge is created using premium materials to deliver exceptional strength, comfort and aesthetics.

Teeth in a Day: what’s involved and what to expect

Is it Possible to have a brand-new smile in just one appointment? Dr Hitesh Panchal from YOR Dental talks through the process, and how it can help patients looking to replace multiple missing or failing teeth. Hitesh explains the treatment, the thinking behind it and what patients considering full-mouth dental implant treatment should know. If you’ve heard about Teeth in a Day and want to understand more about how the process works, this video is a great introduction.

“All-on-4 treatment allows us to restore far more than missing teeth. For many patients, it’s totally life changing. Being able to smile confidently, chew and enjoy favourite foods again and stop worrying about loose dentures falling out can make a remarkable difference to both your overall wellbeing and quality of life.”

All-on-Four /Teeth in a dayFAQs

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is. Your treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic, meaning you shouldn’t feel pain during implant placement. If you’re nervous about dental treatment, we also offer sedation to help you feel calm and relaxed throughout your appointment.

It’s normal to experience some swelling and mild discomfort afterwards, but this is usually well managed with over-the-counter pain relief such as paracetamol and settles within a few days.

Following your procedure, we’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions to help your implants heal successfully.

During the healing period, you’ll usually be advised to eat a softer diet while the implants integrate with your jawbone. We’ll see you regularly to monitor your progress and will be on hand for any issues that arise or questions you have.

Maintaining excellent oral hygiene, attending regular hygiene appointments and visiting us for routine check-ups will help protect your implants for many years.

All-on-4 implants are designed to be a long-term solution for missing teeth. With good oral hygiene and regular professional maintenance, the titanium implants themselves can often last for decades and, in many cases, for life.

The bridge attached to the implants is also extremely durable but, like any dental restoration, may eventually need maintenance, repairs or replacement after years of everyday use.

Our team will continue to monitor your implants during your routine appointments to ensure they remain healthy and functioning at their best.

In many cases, yes – but there is an important distinction. With Teeth in a Day, your dental implants are placed and a fixed set of temporary teeth can often be fitted on the same day, so you leave YOR Dental with a secure, natural-looking smile rather than removable dentures.

These first teeth are designed to protect your implants and allow your gums and jawbone time to heal. Once the implants have fully integrated with the bone, which usually takes several months, your final bespoke teeth are created and fitted.

So while you can often enjoy the confidence of fixed teeth from day one, your permanent final smile comes after the healing process is complete. We will talk you through every stage before treatment so you know exactly what to expect.

Your new teeth will feel different at first, simply because your mouth needs time to adjust to them. Some patients notice changes in the way they speak, chew or move their tongue during the first few days or weeks. This usually improves as you become accustomed to your new smile. Because All-on-4 teeth are securely attached to dental implants, they do not move around in the way removable dentures can. For many patients, that stability is one of the biggest improvements.

Potentially, yes. One of the advantages of the All-on-4 approach is that the implants can often be positioned to make the best possible use of the bone you already have. This means some patients who have previously been told they do not have enough bone for conventional implants may still be suitable. However, every patient is different. We use detailed assessments and 3D imaging where appropriate to understand your bone levels and decide whether All-on-4 is suitable for you. In some cases, additional procedures such as bone grafting may still be recommended.

Not sure which treatment is right for you?

A free consultation is the best first step. We’ll listen, and help you understand your options clearly, honestly, and without pressure.
