From the moment you walk in, YOR Dental offers a friendly, warm and supportive environment. You’ll be welcomed in, offered a drink and introduced to your patient journey coordinator, a dedicated, non-clinical member of the team whose role is to be your point of contact throughout your treatment.
The patient journey coordinator is there specifically to have the conversations that can feel difficult in a clinical setting, such as concerns about treatment or cost. There’s no clinical agenda here, just someone who wants you to feel comfortable and informed about your options before anything else happens.
From there, you’ll be taken into the photo suite. A full set of photographs is taken to document exactly where things stand today. It marks the beginning of an exciting new journey in a more concrete way, and it gives both you and your clinical team a shared reference point for everything else that follows.
Upstairs you’ll meet the clinical team, dentist, nurse or hygienist, with the focus firmly on you before examining your teeth. We’ll go through your medical history, current health, energy levels and how you’re feeling in yourself. A personalised wellness check gives us a clearer picture about your overall health and what we can do to help. We can also recommend complementary treatments to help with wider health and lifestyle concerns.
We’ll then look at the photos from earlier, together, and talk through what you want to achieve. It’s really important we discuss this, not from a vague, aspirational sense but in specific detail. A shared understanding of the outcome you’re working towards shapes every clinical decision that follows, so we want you feel that this is a conversation and not a presentation where you feel obliged to accept things you’re not entirely comfortable with.
This is where YOR Dental offers a truly distinctive approach to diagnostics. As part of our consultation we offer NIRI technology (Near-Infrared Imaging) a specialised 3D imaging tool designed to detect changes in the tooth structure that are not visible using conventional x-ray.
Because it uses infrared light, it is completely radiation-free, making this an ideal option for anyone who needs frequent monitoring or is looking for exposure free diagnostics.
This method detects changes much earlier, allowing quicker intervention and treatment. Alongside this, we carry a comprehensive oral health assessment covering soft tissue and oral cancer screening, and an inspection of any existing restorations and margins. Low-radiation bitewing x-rays complete the picture.
What makes our process different is how the information is shared with you. Our Ai-assisted technology produces colour imaging that’s designed to be relatable for the patient and not just for the clinician’s understanding. We ensure you know everything about your current dental health, explained in a way that’s simple and clear.
We believe this level of transparency helps to address one of the most common concerns we hear from patients: the worry about paying for unnecessary treatments. We find that when the full clinical picture is shared openly, patients are happier and more confident in making proactive decisions about their dental health.
From here, we then create a treatment plan that’s personalised to your dental needs, with a full itemised costing breakdown. We will always go through this with you face-to-face so we’re aligned on every stage and to ensure you are happy and that the expected outcomes match what you want to achieve.
As you head downstairs back to your patient journey coordinator, you’ll have the opportunity to talk though your experience today. There is no pressure to take up any treatment at this stage, or indeed at any part of the treatment journey. We want patients to leave their first appointment feeling informed and reassured, not hurried into any decision. If you need more time to think, please take it and if you need to ask more questions that haven’t been answered, either about the treatment or the finance options available, then please, just ask. Your patient journey coordinator is here to listen and to help.
For patients interested in treating wider health and wellbeing concerns, our initial consultations also offer the chance to explore our holistic services which can be combined with your dental care. Just ask your clinician or patient journey coordinator we’ll be happy to talk you through this during your visit.
