How Our Guarantees Work

We stand behind our clinical work. This document sets out exactly what is guaranteed for each type of treatment, how long that guarantee lasts, and what we ask of you to keep it valid. These guarantees are offered in addition to your statutory rights as a consumer — they do not replace or reduce them.

A guarantee is a promise about our workmanship. It is not a promise that a device or material will never need attention — mouths change over time, and materials wear. What we commit to is putting things right, at no cost to you, when a covered issue arises within the guarantee period and the conditions below have been met.

1. Dental Implants — 1 Year Guarantee

We provide a 1 year guarantee on our clinical work placing dental implants and fitting the implant crown. The implant and abutment components themselves carry a separate lifetime guarantee from the manufacturer, provided on their terms and available on request — this covers the component only, not the clinical fees to replace or re-fit it.

What's covered
  • If your implant crown comes loose or de-cements within the first 12 months, we will re-cement it free of charge.
  • Manufacturer defects in the implant or abutment component, per the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
What you need to do to keep this guarantee valid
  • Cleaning: clean around your implant as thoroughly as your natural teeth, and attend your recommended hygiene and review appointments so we can check it’s healthy.
  • Report bleeding early: if you notice any bleeding around the implant, contact us promptly rather than waiting for your next routine visit.
  • Smoking: avoid smoking — it significantly reduces long-term implant survival.
  • Bite changes: tell us if you have any other teeth removed or altered, as this can put extra force through your implant crown.
What affects or reduces your guarantee
  • Untreated bleeding or gum disease: bleeding around an implant can be an early sign of peri-implantitis (gum and bone loss around the implant). If this is left unchecked and progresses to implant failure, the guarantee will not cover it.
  • Smoking: smoking voids the long-term warranty on your implant.
  • Undisclosed bite changes: if other teeth are removed or altered and we aren’t told, resulting damage to your implant crown is not covered.
  • Accidental damage: trauma or impact damage to your implant crown is not covered by this guarantee (see Section 5).
Things to note
  • The crown that sits on your implant has the normal life expectancy of a crown (around 10 years) and may need replacing over time — this is expected wear, not a guarantee claim.
  • Your implant has three parts: the implant (fixed in the jaw bone), the abutment/connection (screwed into the implant, sitting above the gum), and the crown (the visible artificial tooth, cemented onto the abutment). Understanding this helps explain why some parts are covered differently to others.
2. Crowns, Bridges & Composite Bonding — 1 Year Guarantee

We provide a 1 year guarantee on crown, bridge and composite bonding work carried out at YOR, covering clinical workmanship — for example, a crown or bridge failing prematurely, or bonding chipping or debonding under normal use.

What you need to do to keep this guarantee valid
  • Attend a dental check-up with us every 6 months.
  • Attend a hygiene appointment with us every 3 months.
  • Avoid smoking or vaping, both of which affect gum health and the longevity of restorative work.
  • Wear a properly fitted mouthguard for contact sports or any activity with a risk of impact to the mouth.
What affects or reduces your guarantee
  • Missed check-ups or hygiene visits: if you do not attend the recommended 6-monthly check-ups and 3-monthly hygiene appointments, the guarantee is void.
  • Smoking, vaping, or unprotected contact sport: any of these will void the guarantee.
  • Continuing care elsewhere: if you choose to have your ongoing check-ups with another dentist rather than at YOR, the guarantee period is reduced from 1 year to 6 months from the date of treatment.
  • Accidental damage: chips or breaks caused by trauma or biting something hard or unsuitable are not covered (see Section 5).

These conditions exist because the long-term success of crown, bridge and bonding work depends on regular monitoring and maintenance — we can only stand behind work we’re able to keep an eye on.

3. Clear Aligner / Orthodontic Retention — Guarantee

Unlike our other guarantees, we’re unable to offer a fixed guarantee period for aligner and orthodontic retention. The straightness of your teeth after treatment depends entirely on ongoing retainer wear — there is no point at which retention becomes permanent, and teeth can move at any time if retainers stop being worn as agreed. For this reason, our guarantee is not tied to a set number of months or years. Instead, it remains valid for as long as you continue to wear your retainers exactly as set out in your Retainer Agreement and replace them as advised. Should movement occur while you have followed this agreement in full, we will review the case and agree an appropriate remedy at no cost. Where retainer wear has lapsed, any relapse is treated as new treatment and quoted separately.

What's covered
  • If your teeth move out of alignment while you have followed your Retainer Agreement in full, we will review this with you and agree an appropriate remedy at no cost.
What you need to do to keep this guarantee valid
  • Wear your retainers exactly as set out in your Retainer Agreement, including every night unless otherwise agreed with your clinician.
  • Replace your retainers every 18–24 months, or sooner if advised, to maintain a good, tight fit that continues to hold your teeth in position
  • Attend your scheduled retainer review appointments so we can check the fit and condition of your retainers.
What affects or reduces your guarantee

If retainers are not worn as agreed, or are not replaced within the recommended 18–24 month window, some movement of your teeth should be expected and the guarantee does not apply. Once teeth have moved due to a lapse in retainer wear, correcting this is treated as new treatment and quoted separately. Accidental damage or loss of a retainer is not covered — replacements are chargeable (see Section 5).

4. Making a Guarantee Claim

If you believe something covered by one of these guarantees needs attention, please contact the practice as soon as possible — don’t wait for your next routine appointment. Call us on 0161 503 0915 or speak to your treatment coordinator, and we’ll arrange for you to be seen. Please bring any relevant paperwork (your original treatment plan or Retainer Agreement) if you have it.

Report it at the time: you must contact us when you first notice a problem. We can only assess and cover an issue reported at the time it happens — we’re unable to guarantee a claim raised some months after the event, once it has progressed or the circumstances can no longer be properly assessed.

We will assess the issue clinically before confirming whether it falls within the guarantee. Where it does, the agreed remedy will be carried out at no cost to you. Where the conditions above haven’t been met, we’ll always explain why, and talk through the options and any cost involved in putting things right.

5. General Exclusions & Appointment Charges
Accidental damage

These guarantees cover our clinical workmanship and, where stated, manufacturer defects. They do not cover accidental damage — for example, trauma, impact, or biting down on something hard or unsuitable. Repairs following accidental damage will be charged at our standard rates.

Review, hygiene & emergency appointments

Regular reviews are a condition of every guarantee above. These appointments are included at no charge for patients on a YOR wellness plan or who are an active registered patient at the practice. If you are not on a plan and not a registered patient, review appointments — and any emergency appointments — are chargeable at our standard rates. This charge applies regardless of whether the appointment is also needed to keep your guarantee valid.

6. Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in these guarantees affects your rights under UK consumer law. These guarantees are additional protection on top of those rights, not a replacement for them.
