Porcelain veneers are custom-made in a laboratory to fit your teeth exactly and are the most durable and long-lasting option. They’re highly resistant to staining and have a natural translucency that closely mimics natural tooth enamel. It’s widely accepted that they will last 10 to 15 years with good care. Treatment requires two appointments, the first to prepare the teeth and take impressions, the second to fit the finished veneers.
Composite veneers are applied directly to the tooth surface in a single appointment, and offer immediate results at a lower cost than porcelain. It’s a relatively straightforward treatment procedure with no need for drills or anaesthetic. They cover the entire front of the tooth surface and are shaped by hand to the desired form. Composite veneers typically last five to seven years and can be repaired or adjusted more easily than porcelain.
At your consultation we’ll assess your teeth and determine which type of veneer is right for you. Composite veneers are completed in a single visit, while porcelain veneers require two appointments: an initial impression followed by a fitting once your custom veneers return from the laboratory, with temporaries fitted in the meantime.
